Yoga had me at “Om Mani Padme Hum”!

Sounding like a broken record never felt so good!

Mantra Meditation.

When I heard this Tibetan chant for the first time it cracked my heart right open. Guaranteed it will do the same for you. There’s just something magical about tuning in to a group of people by chanting mantras. And magic is what we can always use more of in this world!

Nope. It’s nothing religious or cult-related (unless you want it to be). The Sanskrit word mantra means “that which liberates the mind”. The wonderful goal of Mantra Meditation is to set the mind free (not give it under the control of someone else!).

Chanting is an important part of Bhakti Yoga - a devotional yoga practice - but it has nothing to do with worshiping someone outside of yourself and has everything to do with honoring and allowing the divine YOU within YOU.

The repetition of mantras and the use of positive sound vibrations for meditation - also called Nada Yoga - are healing and helpful practices during any kind of yoga class.

And the cool thing is: whether mantras help you to relax or make yourself be heard, they are always available to you wherever you are or whatever you do. And you don’t need to be a pro singer.

You can experience Mantra Meditation during any of my yoga classes or on special Kirtan Chanting evenings.
